Important information about the coronavirus (COVID-19)

The NHS in south east London and Public Health England (PHE) are well prepared for outbreaks of new infectious diseases. The NHS has put in place measures to protect patients, our community and NHS staff while ensuring as many services as possible are available to the public.

Symptoms and households

If you have symptoms associated with coronavirus including a new continuous cough or a high temperature, you are advised to stay at home for 7 days.

Please do not book a GP appointment or attend your GP practice.

If you live with other people, they should stay at home for at least 14 days, to avoid spreading the infection outside the home. After 14 days, anyone you live with who does not have symptoms can return to their normal routine.

But, if anyone in your home gets symptoms, they should stay at home for 7 days from the day their symptoms start. Even if it means they're at home for longer than 14 days. The most up-to-date public guidance is always online at

If your symptoms are serious, or get worse, NHS 111 has an online coronavirus service that can tell you if you need further medical help and advise you what to do.

Only call 111 direct if you are advised to do so by the online service or you cannot go online.

Services at the surgery

The surgery has made significant changes to all services that we offer. We must minimize the number of people entering the surgery to the greatest extent possible. This is to protect patients and to try to reduce the number of medical staff who need to self-isolate at one time.

Please follow these instructions:

  1. Check the NHS COVID-19 information regularly since this is a fast changing situation:
  2. Do not come to the surgery unless instructed to do so by a member of staff. If you need to contact us please email (for non-urgent but important matters) or call the surgery.
  3. Request your repeat prescriptions as usual, either online or via email. Do not order extra medication, if you stockpile medication this will mean someone else will not have the tablets that they need.
  4. We are not booking any face-to-face appointments with the GP. If you have an urgent medical problem (that is not a cough or a fever) please telephone the surgery to arrange for a call back. If the GP needs to see you they will make the booking after a call.
  5. We are still booking practice nurse appointments for: vaccines, injections, dressings and stitch removal. It is very important to continue routine immunisations for children, we cannot afford to have outbreaks of measles, mumps, rubella etc while the health system is responding to COVID-19.
  6. Our phone lines are likely to be very busy. Please keep trying to get through if you need to speak to us. Keep calls as brief as possible so that other patients can get through.
  7. Please be patient with us. This is the first time that we are having to take these actions and we might not get our communication right straight away. We are taking these actions to create a resilient, safe and caring service during this unique situation. We feel well prepared and calm and hope that our patients are reassured by the changes that are being made.
  8. We would encourage you to reach out to your neighbours and wider community to help those who are more vulnerable or who are self isolating. Follow the government advice if you are helping someone who is self isolating.
